After Fay!

So, here are some pictures from Saturday after Fay! The worst damage I had was my Marigolds at our mailbox and the Banana Tree’s leaves. My Texas Palmettos new frond was blown around and now bent, it still has another new frond still to open.

During the rain Friday!

Woke up Friday morning with tons of rain pounding us from the heavens. A part of the yard had about two inches just sitting. Where you go out into the backyard from the lanai was flooded as well. The wind was also blowing really hard and the Pine Trees behind us are so scary when they bend in the wind. On to the pictures:

Thought we were in the clear…

untill about midnight when the fastest winds and the hardest rain we have seen started! It had been windy and rainy here in Northwest St. Johns County today however, I thought it seemed like we wouldn’t have to much more after 11pm. Now I can still here the wind whipping around outside still as fast as it was at midnight. I also for got has it heads west we still have to go through the eastern rainbands.

As for the damage Fay as caused, not to much as of this afternoon. However, with this recent wind and punding rain I may wake up later this morning and find a lot of damage. So far my Dwarf Cavemdish Banana has seen almost every leaf rip. The Marigolds by the mailbox have snapped down the middle and I mean all of them. Then one of my Elephant Ears flipped over and snapped a leaf…I’m not sure what kind it is.

The power has been on and off all day. I will have to say that the houses in Florida seem to be built well. All the houses I have lived in in other states they creak and you can here a 15mph breeze. I barely heard a breze in this house all day untill about midnight when apparently all Fay has decided to really get going on us.

Waiting…

Here on the First Coast we are still waiting on Fay to head our way. Yesterday was a nice cooler day but, very windy. We were also put under a Hurricane Watch due to Fay moving out into the Atlantic and possibly becoming a Huuricane.

The plants I staked are wind blown today. I’m not to sure they will hold up to the higher winds. I have Sunflowers that just started to bloom yesterday and I am sure they will be broken. I am also worried about my young Castor Ban plants snapping.

Sorry, no pictures of the Sunflowers that bloomed yesterday. The wind was blowing to much for me to get any picture of them. It was cool however to see the clouds, which we had plenty of, move fast from east to west.

Just in case Fay gets stronger the new grille went into the garage along with the Lanai furniture. May sem a little to much but, better be safe than sorry. I left the solar lights and garden decorations out untill I see what Fay will do. I can easily go out and do a quick round up today if I need to.
