Oh, Snap!

Yesterday after a heavey rainstorm a Sunflower snapped. This is really disappointing and I hope it will regrow from the top or bloom fron the other branches. This ofcourse wouldn’t have happened had the builders of the houses inmy neighborhood had installed gutters. There are no gutters around the Lanai or across the entryway on the front of the house to get to the frontdoor. I have noticed a lot of homes in Florida are gutterless, why is this, Hurricanes? Surely they aren’t that expensive and can be easily replaced if a hurricane or tropical storm takes them off. Homes in Tornadoe Alley have gutters, a Tornado can easily rip them off there as can a tropical system here. We really need them in a state that can get inches of rain in 15 to 30 minutes. 

I will try and get pictures of the Sunflower tomorrow along with the new Elephant Ears. However, they are calling for more rain today. Yesterday wasn’t an all day soaker but the area didn’t look very good after being beat with rain. Today kind of sounds like wide spread all day storms and rain for the First Coast area. We are close to 2 inches over what we need for the average rain for July.

Happy Monday!

Hello, everyone. Not much as been going on, I moved my Zebra Mallow today as it was in a really wet area and was declineing due to root rot. I put some type of Alocasia and Caladiums over in it’s place. Picture will becoming up tomorrow. My little Rose that just popped has really grown, it amaze me how fats Roses grow. The Castor Beans are really growing as well.

Rain has been the forcast for close to a week. We just got a lot of rain today and more is expected atleast through mid-week. We are over for our monthly average which I guess is good. It hasn’t been to hot either due to the clouds during the day. That’s it for today, check back tomorrow for pictures on the new stuff.

Stormy Day

It seems like to day will be overcast and stormy, was planning on the beach today but decided against it. Right now 10:40am it is already thundering, I guess it’s okay, we still need an inch or two to reach our average rainfall for July. Yesterdays big storm gave us 1.35″ of rain that we needed. The new area was all droopy yesterday when I took the pics do to there shade being removed. I luckily didn’t have to water so that was nice. I might write again today or I might wait till tomorrow.

Redo!

I know it has been awhile since I last posted anything interesting, sorry! I am back however with some new information and pictures.

Over the Weekend I finally bought some mulch for the mailbox area and for the new bed I put in June after we moved in. I chose red mulch becuse I knew even in Kentucky black faded and I didn’t want to waste my money in an area with more intense Sun.  I have also removed two bushes in an area where my Coconut Palm was being crowded out by them and not growing very well. I just decided to remove thos two bushes, cutting them weekly was annoying since they grew at such a such rate. Then I trimmed two of the other bushes on the other side so they wouldn’t continue to crowd out the Banana Tree that I bought at the end of June. I also found a Rose that I didn’t plant that as sprouted in the cleared out area by the Coconut Tree.

I took all of the pictures today as it was about to storm. The dark clouds really made the flash show up in the pictures. I also took pictures of what I now believe is a Varigated Hibiscus, which I had never heard of; we will see if it is for sure once it hopefully blooms. I then took pictures of the two Castor Bean seeds that I planted about a week and a half ago and some Cannas that are blooming at the front of the house.

There are also pictures of the dark clouds that were rolling in. The clouds don’t show uo as dark as it actually was. It was windy and lighting was flashing all around and loud booming thunder made sure it ws heard. So pease Enjoy!
